3.1 Glitch Fun

Some things funny, some things disturbing, and many frustrating, but they're there. And did we really expect anything different? With new content patches with so many tweaks, it's pretty much guaranteed our servers and characters will be in turmoil for quite some time. So what's happened for me in this brave, new world? Well, besides instance freezing and crashes, there have been...

  • Lifebloom fun! Though hotfixed now, if you clicked off Lifebloom, you were able to gain the heal and the mana bonus, without dispell or the timer ticking down. This is no longer the case, but it was certainly interesting while it lasted.
  • Bellwether, for a time, was able to spec 72 talent points. I am, obviously, the uber Resto at a hidden level 81.
  • My innervate glyph no longer seems to be functioning, though that may be an isolated problem with my character.
  • Two of Bellbell's quests refuse to give her credit for kills or drop their items. These are The Purging of Scourgeholme and The Scourgestone. Both were partially complete before the patch came out, and now I am not getting any credit. The GM's, swamped as they are, were so very (not) helpful by sending me an e-mail suggesting I could be in a raid group. Seeing as how Bellbell is not 80 and her last raid was Onyxia, pre-server reset, and after leaving those two quests I was able to complete others without trying to leave a non-existant group, I am a little irritated by this explanation.
  • Unable to see any standing Consecration animation.
  • Interesting visual glitches! Take a look at what is hanging over Moroes's head, and what color those prissy Blood Elves are trying to turn the lava on the way to Molten Core.

What have you noticed?

* Whereas you have 72 talent points, I often only appear to have 70... and yet, I still manage to take the 51 point talent in my main tree without taking one a couple rows above it. HAX

* I managed to fall through the captain's room in the Horde airship last night. I landed on top of a pipe in the room below, and if I jumped people could see my name coming through the floor.

* The Prophet Tharon'ja actually grants kill credit now!

In Ulduar, if you use the Steam Rush option while you're on a ramp, you fall through the ramp and get stuck "under" Ulduar.

The Consecrate issue is not a bug... The video settings changed, the consecrate animation uses a "decal" that is a really simple image overlayed on top of the terrain. Its a very graphic intensive process...

It used to deactivate if you had your spell effects all the way down.

Now it is its own toggle.... and they default it to off.

Go to your video settings, and look at the bottom, in the section with the checkboxes, there is a new fourth option down there, I forget what its called exactly, but check it on.

And now they are back.

Not the checkered cubes of doom!

Multiple people losing all of their talent points. as in 0/0/0 with 0 to spend.

and I am guilty of getting free re-specs if i change talens quickly (ie swap from main spec to off spec and back again) appears that the only talents that stay the same are the shared ones (where if both specs spent the same points in the same place i will retain those talents, but all the others are refunded)

@InspiredOgre: Thank you! That has been affecting my Death and Decays as well; I assumed they just changed the graphic... again.

Blizzard, Rain of Fire, and Consecration have all had their ground textures heavily modified or removed. Apparently it was messing something up performance-wise, so they took them out while they worked on it. It probably affects Death and Decay and Volley as well, but a. I don't play a hunter, b. there's no spider wing bosses that volley me, and c. I've not had a DK tank skits for me for a while.

But man, not being able to see our MT's consecrate (outside the initial "fwoosh" animation) is really bloody annoying. Doesn't help that it's near impossible for most tanks to move trash into my AoE now.

Need to read comments before posting more. Inspired Ogre, you're pretty awesome and have just helped out my entire guild.

Thanks for the heads-up about consecrate! Really helpful.

There's another glitch. This one is with Wild Growth, where if it's a mob you have targeted, you are unable to cast it upon yourself, or at all if the target is dead. Ick.

Oh, and 4 Horseman bugged out last night so the understudies dropped MC every five seconds, so I couldn't finish Naxx.

I noticed my innervate is only showing up with one buff, not two like it used to with the innervate glyph in. I was wondering if they just got rid of the second buff and merged it into the single innervate buff or if it is really a glyph. Has anyone reported this yet?

@Bell

What you described about WG is not a glitch, but actually how it is intended to work. It uses your target as a beacon of origin around which it chooses it's 5 friendly targets. As such, you can't cast it on yourself while targeting an enemy like you can with most helpful spells. If you want to cast it on yourself (i.e. make yourself the beacon of origin), you have to either clear your target or target yourself directly.

This is incredibly useful for targeting melee because you can cast it on the boss and it will find the 5 friendly targets within 10 yards of the boss who need it most, whereas casting it on the tank might not even reach the melee as they often end up more than 10 yards away from the MT if the boss has a large hitbox.

Well dang. That little cube is there for us, too. We did a comedy run through Kara to get some folks the achievement, and I went up there an checked -- and there it was!

IIRC the cube is a placeholder. A boss in Sunwell back then on the PTR was also just a cube, mmo-champion hat a screenshot.

I think they just screwed something up in Khara.

But I don't get the lava thing. :-/

One of Sartharion's voice emotes is bugged, so when the flame wall appears, you hear Big Bad Wolf roaring "RUN AWAY, LITTLE GIRL!"

I think this happened on Hodir last night as well, unless someone was just being a wiseguy during flash freezes.
